The Loxwood Neighbourhood Plan (LNP) is possibly the most important single document regarding the future of our village today. The policies set out in the Plan identify what the community want with regard to the future development of Loxwood. The Parish Council are forming a Steering Group to work on the 2024 Revision to the Made Neighbourhood Plan.
The role of a Steering Group Member is not defined but it involves many skills depending on the direction of travel of the Aims and Polices to be included in the Plan.
NP has to be evidence based and all Policies require the collection of evidence to support them. Members Vision of the direction of travel for development and other land uses within the Parish is important. For example, it may be important to you to encourage the connectivity between Parishes and for the inclusion in the NP of an Aim to include a cycle route to ifold and thereon to the centre of Plaistow. It may be possible to work with the Neighbouring Parish concerning this.
In turn this cycle route could provide a green corridor encouraging certain species to migrate from one area to another. In the case of a Design Statement or Design Code photographic evidence of particular positive aspects of housing in the community may be needed to support a build requirement.
For a Housing Needs Assessment it may just be a case of looking at the latest census to determine the number of 1, 2,3 etc bed houses in the Parish to assess against current need generated from for example the Chichester Housing List amongst other sources.
Our NP Consultant may require members to spell check and sense test long documents. We carry out various public consultations and the data received will need to be collated and summarised.
In addition., the Steering Group does just that, Steer the NP through all the processes making sure we meet deadlines and so the volume of work and the number of meetings required will depend upon what needs to be done and decided upon/reviewed/discussed.
The number of meetings can be as many as twice monthly or as few as once a month and sections of the Group may meet more often if they have a particular task.
All applicants will be gratefully received by the Parish Council who rely on support to achieve a Plan for the Parish so the Parish can decide on its future growth.

The Parish Council are now looking into starting up a new revision of the Neighbourhood Plan as the Local Plan is expected to commence Examination early in the new year 2024. The Parish Council are interviewing Planning Consultants for this purpose. Further updates will follow shortly. December 2023.
