David Bridges and Dr Alan Birch gave a very interesting talk on the Wood White Butterfly at the Annual Parish Meeting on 22nd May 2026. They have been surveying the Loxwood Woods area recently and found several butterflies int his area which has given them reason to believe it is expanding in numbers which given its previously thought rarity is very good news. This spring and summer they are intensifying their surveying efforts and require public help. If when you are out and about you spot one of the butterflies as shown below and not to be confused with other white species such as the Cabbage White, please can you let them know. The rare Wood White Butterfly is thought to be inhabiting the area outlined in the map below. If you spot it in this area please can you email [email protected]
