This service has been expanded. The new 96 Flex covers North West Chichester and can be booked on the day or up to 24 hours before your journey. The 99 Flex service runs through the rural areas between Chichester and Petworth, while the 98 Flex services serves the areas to the north of Petworth. Book online via the Ride Pingo app. This is the easiest way to use Book-a-Bus as the app will show you where your Book-a-Bus service is, where it will pick you up and when it will arrive. You can’t pre book, but you can book up to five seats per trip, subject to availability. You can also book by phoning 01243 858854 (operating hours are 6.30am-7.30pm). When booking by phone, please select the relevant telephone option: Option 1 for 99 Flex and option 2 for all other Book-a-Bus services. The average response time via call centre is 2-3 minutes, with the aim 80% of calls are answered in 1 minute. Senior Persons Bus Passes accepted. urged to join council register People who are interested in building their own home in Chichester District are being urged to join the district council’s Custom and Self-Build Register. All local authorities must keep a register of any individual or local community groups who want to obtain land to build their own homes and they must take this demand into account when preparing local plans. Chichester District Council is encouraging those interested to join its register for free at www.chichester.gov.uk/article/36087/Register-your-interestfor-custom-and-self-build-housing. If you’re interested in building in any of the areas in our district which are based within the South Downs National Park (SDNP), then you’ll need to register on their website at: www.southdowns.gov.uk/planningpolicy/self-build-custom-build” What is custom and self-build?
The register is used to inform us about the level of demand for serviced land plots in the district. This is so we can plan to meet this need. Entering the register does not guarantee that a suitable plot will be identified or made available to applicants. We have a legal duty to give planning permission for enough suitable serviced plots to meet the demand in the district. The level of demand is established by the number of entries added to Part 1 of the register during a base period. At the end of each period, we have 3 years in which to give an equivalent number of planning permissions for suitable plots. Please note: this is not a duty to provide a plot directly to each individual on the register. Chichester District Council clarify that typically, self-build homes are around 25 per cent cheaper than buying a new home from a developer and currently, 13,000 people a year in the UK manage to build their own homes while self-built homes account for between 7% and 10% of all new homes built in the UK. NURSERY GREEN SHOP Many residents have been concerned as the hoarding around the Blackhall development site does not mention a shop. The Parish Council is reassured by Chichester District Council that the development of the retail outlet is still included, although it is to be noted that currently there is no buyer lined up for the shop. RIPARIAN DUTIES This time of year it is important for everyone to attend to their ditches and drains to remove debris and ensure they are free running.
