AWAAB’S LAW
From 27 October 2025 Awaab’s Law will be introduced . This means that social landlords will be required to investigate and fix dangerous damp and mould in set time periods and repair all emergency hazards within 24 hours. In 2023, 7% of social rented homes had a damp problem and 4% had hazards rated at the most dangerous ‘category 1’ level. Until the introduction of Awaab’s Law later this year, timescales for addressing issues have been undefined or linked to other complaints or repairs procedures. This new legislation will mean that social landlords will have to act within agreed timescales. Any issues with damp & mould should be raised with the social landlord. There is also a further information for dealing with damp and mould which can be shared with Hyde Residents Looking after your home | The Hyde Group. For other providers residents can contact the District Councillors for the information they hold, although this should also be advertised on their websites. LOXWOOD SCHOOL The new SEN building has been built and is in use this term. It was provided from the Community Infrastructure Levy that the Parish receives as a result of development in the Parish. TRAFFIC CALMING The Community Highways Scheme application that was consulted upon and sent to WSCC earlier this year requires some alterations to be in accordance with WSCC Highways regulations. The Parish Council have engaged a consultant to draw up further plans to include pedestrian crossing at the shop and possibly North Hall as well as highways painting which appears to be successfully reducing speed.
