1.THERE ARE TWO VACANCIES ON THE ABOVE PARISH COUNCIL.
  
2.A BY-ELECTION TO FILL THE VACANCY WILL BE HELD, IF WITHIN 14 DAYS (not counting Saturdays, Sundays, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Good Friday or Bank Holidays) FROM THE DATE BELOW(11th September 2026), TEN (10) ELECTORS FOR LOXWOOD PARISH  GIVE WRITTEN NOTICE TO REQUEST THAT THE VACANCY BE FILLED BY ELECTION TO THE RETURNING OFFICER, CHICHESTER DISTRICT COUNCIL, EAST PALLANT HOUSE, 1 EAST PALLANT, CHICHESTER, WEST SUSSEX, PO19 1TY (Telephone 01243 521010).
  
3.THE NOTICE MUST BE GIVEN IN WRITING OR ON A FORM OBTAINABLE FROM THE OFFICE OF THE RETURNING OFFICER AND MUST INCLUDE THE ELECTORAL NUMBERS OF ALL ELECTORS REQUESTING THE FILLING OF THE VACANCY BY THE ELECTION PROCESS.

We are grateful to local families for their patience during an upgrade that took longer than anticipated. Ensuring the playground was completed safely and to a high standard has been our priority throughout.

]]><![CDATA[Horsham recycling plant turns thousands of tonnes of food waste into green energy]]>Mon, 22 Jun 2026 14:52:32 GMThttps://www.loxwood-pc.gov.uk/latest-news/horsham-recycling-plant-turns-thousands-of-tonnes-of-food-waste-into-green-energyWest Sussex County Council is boosting recycling across the county with a major upgrade to its Horsham waste site.
In April this year we expanded the Anaerobic Digestion facilities at the site so we can recycle thousands of tonnes of food waste into clean energy and fertiliser each year.
This modern, sustainable way of managing waste and reducing its impact on the environment is already delivering results. Since April 2,670 tonnes of food waste, roughly the equivalent of around 200 double-decker buses, have been converted into renewable energy.
The Anaerobic Digestion and Resource Recovery Facility (ADRRF), run by Biffa as part of the West Sussex Waste Partnership (WSWP), ensures that food waste collected from homes across West Sussex is recycled locally using a process called anaerobic digestion. This creates renewable energy to help power the plant with excess exported to the National Grid, as well as nutrient-rich fertiliser for use on farmland.
The ADRRF facility has the capacity to process the 35,000 tonnes of food waste expected to be collected from households across the county each year, helping West Sussex to meet new national recycling requirements.

]]><![CDATA[WOOD WHITE BUTTERFLY SURVEY Spring Summer 2026]]>Thu, 28 May 2026 10:16:41 GMThttps://www.loxwood-pc.gov.uk/latest-news/wood-white-butterfly-survey-spring-summer-2026David Bridges and Dr Alan Birch gave a very interesting talk on the Wood White Butterfly at the Annual Parish Meeting on 22nd May 2026. They have been surveying the Loxwood Woods area recently and found several butterflies int his area which has given them reason to believe it is expanding in numbers which given its previously thought rarity is very good news. This spring and summer they are intensifying their surveying efforts and require public help. If when you are out and about you spot one of the butterflies as shown below and not to be confused with other white species such as the Cabbage White, please can you let them know.

​​NORTH HALL PLAY AREA The Parish Council are pleased to announce they have received grant funding of £15,000 from Chichester District Council towards the renovations of the North Hall Play area. This funding together with Community Infrastructure Levy from Parish development has enabled this project to go ahead in the Spring 2026. ​

David Bridges and Dr Alan Birch will be speaking at the Annual Parish Meeting on a very exciting project.  They have been very busy surveying woodland around Loxwood, Plaistow and other parts of NW Sussex for the rare Wood White butterfly!
Until last summer, the Wood White appeared to be barely 'hanging on' in Sussex, with just two rather weak colonies in woods west of Plaistow.  However, as a result of surveys in a number of other woods in NW Sussex they have found three further significant colonies, one being in the woods east of Loxwood.
Their longer-term goal in 2026 is to carry out more comprehensive surveying across NW West Sussex in areas of potentially suitable habitat. They want to encourage as many people as possible to look out for and report any sightings of this butterfly in gardens, roadside verges, damp land in woodland or adjacent to ditches or streams, or on odd pockets of habitat or wherever it might turn up!  
They will be speaking at the Annual Parish Meeting on this topic with plenty of photographs.
David Bridges is behind a lot of biodiversity work that has been undertaken in Warnham and Broadbridge Heath such as the wild flower meadow area on the approach to Broadbridge Heath and all the swift boxes on houses around Warnham. David is an interesting and motivating speaker.
 
LOXWOOD COMMUNITY GARDEN INITIATIVE Thank you to members of the LGCI for planting all the bulbs around our Parish and the results of this labour is now beginning to show itself as green leaves protrude through the earth.

]]><![CDATA[SKIFF LANE 40mph Traffic Regulation Order -to go ahead]]>Thu, 23 Oct 2025 09:16:11 GMThttps://www.loxwood-pc.gov.uk/latest-news/skiff-lane-40mph-traffic-regulation-order-to-go-aheadWSCC Highways have today confirmed that a 40mph speed limit will apply to SKiff Lane. Due to having to arrange a traffic management controls team to install the signage, a date has not yet been set for implementation.
This signifies a long process which began in March 2023 firstly for a 30mph limit  with a further application for 40mph submitted in the autumn of 2023 following the refusal of the 30mph restriction due to average speed data for vehicles exceeding this speed.
